We were talking-about the space between us all
And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realise it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows ON within you and without you.
We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.
I have been learning this piece on the Sitar for Clay Kirkland's Beat the Reaper show on Feb the 8th at Swallow Hill....what a piece of music! I realized last night as I was working on it that it most likely came from Ravi Shankar or Ali Akbar Khan and that George Harrison probably put lyrics to a much older composition. I also realized that a direct student of Ali Akbar Khan wrote out the parts for me...and is playing the sarod in the performance by the way....so this is a very deep lesson for me personally and I am learning it with much gusto
Then I looked at the words...Boom Shankar!
If you have a chance...puleeeze come and see this concert...then make the mad dash with me over to Herman's! It would be so much fun to make the trip with some friends and walk into Herman's with a posse of people!
